When questioned about criticism of the BJP, Rahul Gandhi responded, “Can you clarify the roles of Amit Shah’s son and Rajnath Singh’s son?”
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, often targeted by the BJP for alleged dynastic politics, turned the accusation back at the BJP today. When asked about BJP’s criticism, Mr. Gandhi responded, “What roles do Amit Shah’s and Rajnath Singh’s sons hold exactly?” “Recently, I heard Amit Shah’s son is involved in campaigning. Let’s be fair. Examine the BJP leaders and question what their children are engaged in. Many of them are inheritors of a political legacy,” he added.

This isn’t the first instance where Mr. Gandhi, belonging to a family with a strong political legacy, faced such questioning.
In 2017, he acknowledged dynastic politics as an issue in India, although he didn’t specify individuals.
Following his admission, there was a barrage of criticism from the BJP. Amit Shah spearheaded the BJP’s criticism, branding Mr. Gandhi as the “unmeritorious symbol of dynastic politics.”
Amit Shah had previously made similar remarks in April, countering the Opposition’s claim of “democracy being in danger.”
The threat to the nation comes not from democracy, but from “parivarwad” (dynastic politics), the “autocracy of his (Mr. Gandhi’s) family,” and casteism.
