Actress Wamiqa Gabbi revealed in an interview that she was initially considered for a role in Baahubali. However, her statement caused confusion among fans of the Prabhas-starrer.
Wamiqa asserts that she underwent preparation for Baahubali.
When “Baahubali” premiered in 2015, it revolutionized Indian cinema and propelled Telugu stars, including director SS Rajamouli and actors Prabhas, Anushka Shetty, Rana Daggubati, and Tamannaah Bhatia, into global recognition overnight. Ramya Krishnan also garnered acclaim for her performance. However, a recent statement by Wamiqa Gabbi has left fans of the film puzzled.

In a social media clip without context, Wamiqa informed Filmy Gyan that she underwent training for Baahubali, but the project faced continuous changes in directors, leading to its shutdown. Despite her inquiries about the finalization of the director, she remained committed to sword fight training, expressing hope for the project’s revival.
This statement left fans puzzled, especially considering the success of Baahubali and director SS Rajamouli’s subsequent project, RRR. Some fans humorously commented on the constant director changes, while others questioned the authenticity of Wamiqa’s story. Although the clip was later deleted, it caused confusion among fans for a brief period.
In reality, Wamiqa was indeed associated with Baahubali, specifically the Netflix series titled Baahubali: Before the Beginning. This series, based on novels like The Rise of Sivagami, Chaturanga, and Queen of Mahishmathi, aimed to be a prequel focusing on Ramya Krishnan’s character, Sivagami. Initially, Mrunal Thakur was cast, but Wamiqa eventually took on the role. The project experienced directorial changes with Deva Katta and Praveen Sattaru initially slated for 2018. However, in 2021, Netflix reportedly scrapped the shot version and planned a future revamp. Kunal Deshmukh was later chosen as the director but opted out of the project.
