A new airport has been built in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. The airport is expected to enhance the local economy and encourage religious tourism as it is themed around the life of Lord Ram and equipped with modern amenities.
The inauguration of Maharishi Valmiki International Airport and the renovated Ayodhya railway station is scheduled for December 30, with Prime Minister Modi officiating the ceremony.

The entrance to the recently built Ayodhya airport has been adorned with flowers in preparation for its inauguration on Saturday. Located about 15 km from the main city of Ayodhya, the airport incorporates contemporary construction materials in its core. Nevertheless, the exterior of the terminal, reminiscent of the design of the new Ayodhya station building, embraces a traditional aesthetic. Similarly, the primary gateway follows a comparable construction approach, with a concrete core embellished with sandstone cladding that displays stylized carvings. (Source: ANI)

The terminal incorporates several sustainable features, such as an insulated roofing system, LED lighting, rainwater harvesting, fountains in landscaping, water treatment and sewage treatment plants, and a solar power plant, with the goal of achieving a GRIHA – 5-star rating. This initiative not only improves regional connectivity but is also expected to boost tourism, business activities, and employment opportunities in the region (ANI).
