ICC ODI World Cup 2023: Teams And Structure
The tournament will follow the same setup as the Cricket World Cup 2019. All 10 teams, including India, England, Pakistan, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Netherlands, will compete in a round-robin format, playing against each other once. The top four teams will advance to the semi-finals.
According to ICC rules, the leading team after the round robin will compete against the fourth-placed team, and the second and third-placed teams will face off in the other semi-final.
“World Cup 2023: Minimum Points Needed for Semi Finals Qualification”
Winning seven out of nine matches will almost certainly secure a team’s spot in the semi-finals. If teams have the same number of points, the total number of wins becomes the next criterion for breaking the tie. If teams are still equal in wins, the net run rate is taken into account to differentiate them.
