WhatsApp, the messaging platform by Meta Platforms, is introducing a fresh feature aimed at safeguarding user privacy. This feature is presently accessible to select beta testers. According to a report from WABetaInfo, a website that monitors updates for the messaging app, WhatsApp users can now bolster their security and privacy by shielding their IP address during calls.

To access this added layer of security and privacy, users can navigate to the new “Advanced” section within the privacy settings. This section includes the “protect IP address in calls” option, which ensures a more secure experience during voice and video calls, as mentioned in the report.
The primary purpose of this feature is to maintain end-to-end encryption for calls. Upon activation, this new feature enhances security, preventing the other party in the call from discovering your location and IP address.
