Gadkari made a brief stop in Sharjah on his way back to India after his visit to Prague. During his stopover in Sharjah, he had the opportunity to witness a safety and evacuation demonstration presented by uSky Technology.
“uSky Technology has introduced Sky Bus solutions, and iSky Mobility has partnered with uSky to introduce these mobility services in India,” Union Minister for Transport and Highways Gadkari posted on his X timeline.
“Sky Bus provides an eco-friendly, congestion-free urban transportation solution, lowering pollution and traffic jams while offering effective mobility for city dwellers. Additionally, its elevated cable rail system minimizes land usage, making it a valuable enhancement to the country’s transportation infrastructure,” he emphasized.
uSky claims that its vehicles travel above the ground on a specially designed elevated overpass, offering several benefits. These advantages include improved aerodynamics, enhanced speed, unparalleled safety, efficient land and resource utilization, reduced environmental impact from transportation, and lower construction and operational costs when compared to current transportation solutions.
Gadkari undertook an official visit to the Czech Republic on October 2, during which he engaged in the ministerial session on Road Safety at the 27th World Road Congress held in Prague. Additionally, he had the opportunity to engage with a range of international organizations, academic institutions, industry representatives, as well as experts and stakeholders in the field.\
Gadkari, a staunch advocate of sustainable mobility solutions, recently had the opportunity to experience a hydrogen bus by Skoda during his visit to Prague. In a statement posted on X, the Office of Nitin Gadkari emphasized, “Hydrogen buses offer substantial potential in mitigating carbon emissions and tackling environmental issues, playing a pivotal role in fostering a more eco-friendly and sustainable future.”
In January of this year, the Union Cabinet granted its approval to the National Green Hydrogen Mission, with the goal of establishing India as a worldwide center for the manufacture, application, and export of such technologies. The mission’s objective is to progressively facilitate the decarbonization of the industrial, transportation, and energy sectors while simultaneously decreasing reliance on foreign fossil fuel imports, among other benefits.
On Tuesday, he embarked on a test journey aboard the world’s longest overhead power electric trolley bus, a 24-meter vehicle designed by Skoda in Prague. The bus is presently undergoing experimental trials.
“After a successful operation, it has the potential to serve as a highly cost-effective alternative to capital-intensive metro systems, particularly on Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) routes where dedicated lanes for such buses, akin to metro rail, would improve public transportation infrastructure,” Gadkari shared on X.
